Despite our size, we've never lost sight of the fact that first and foremost, our business is community banking. As such, we have a long history of active civic and charitable support, and have been commended for our employees' volunteer efforts. More than 1,150 M&T employees volunteer on the boards of over 1,700 community organizations across the regions we serve.
Every year, thanks in part to the success of our business financial services, The M&T Charitable Foundation is able to donate millions of dollars to community-based organizations. In 2008, M&T contributed more than $16 million to more than 3,000 not–for–profit organizations serving our friends, families and neighbors.
